This easy homemade hummus got a trendy update just by adding some everything bagel seasoning to it. Its texture is super creamy and silky. And how I wish for all of you to taste how scrumptious it is through this picture. The everything bagel seasoning adds some nice notes of garlic and onion and also adds some crunchy texture on every bite. It’s so irresistible!

I have had this for lunch three times since making this batch. I love how this is a filling yet light meal, it leaves nice room for dessert! The idea of using the everything bagel seasoning in this easy homemade hummus was to play a bit with the flavors. Plain hummus can be such a canvas for many different flavors. And in this recipe the flavors just shine!

I used a mix of chickpeas and white beans for a smoother texture but you can make this with all chickpeas or all white beans.

This deliciousness is so easy and quick to make. You literally need 15 minutes and it’s DONE! Check below my steps for making this hummus.

How to make this Everything Bagel Hummus at home

  1. Technically you can throw everything in the food processor and call the day, but I like to heat the beans with the olive oil, the everything bagel seasoning and the salt just a bit to marinate the flavors and break down the skin and fiber of the beans. Doing this helps in creating a super smooth texture and intensifying the flavors.

  2. Then you transfer the beans to the food processor with the tahini and pulse to incorporate. Then add the rest of the liquids and turn on the food processor until everything is super smooth. You need to work it for at least a minute to get a very smooth texture.

  3. I like to reserve the liquid of the beans and use it when grinding the beans. You can use heated chicken stock or water as well. Just adjust the salt accordingly.

  4. Transfer to a bowl and serve. You can eat this immediately but if you have the time chill it for about 30 minutes to improve the flavor and texture.

  5. That’s all my friends! You can store it in the fridge and it will be good for more than a week.

As you can see, this is the easiest thing to make! Hope you can make it anytime soon. How much do you like this recipe guys? I’ll be having this on repeat!

Details

Yield:
to 3 to 4 people as a light meal or 8 to 10 people as appetizer or side dish

Total and active time:
15 minutes

Equipment:
large skillet, food processor

Steps

In a large skillet heat the ⅓ cup of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chickpeas, white beans, the teaspoon of the everything bagel seasoning and the teaspoon of salt. Cook for about 5 minutes after the oil starts sizzling, moving frequently. Retire from heat and wait a couple of minutes to let the beans cool down.

Transfer the beans to the food processor with the ½ cup of tahini and pulse 20 seconds. Scrape down the wall and pulse 20 seconds more. Add the reserved beans and chickpeas liquid and the ½ cup of lemon juice and pulse for about a minute. Taste and add a bit more if necessary. Scrape down the walls again and pulse for a full minute or a bit more until you achieve a smooth texture. Technically you can serve it right away but it’s better if you place it in the fridge 20 to 30 minutes to improve its texture and flavors. In the meantime toast the Naan bread. (Recipe follows)

Transfer hummus to a deep plate. Arrange some black olives on top and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper, the chopped parsley and extra everything bagel seasoning.

To make the toasted Naan bread:

Brush each bread with olive oil on both sides. Place each bread individually on a heated skillet on medium-high heat. Toast until golden brown, then flip and repeat on the other side. Remove from heat and wait a minute before cutting. Serve immediately.
