Finally open again

Welcome, welcome!!! I’m so happy you are here reading my first words under The Yellow Butterfly blog! Thanks for being part of this new chapter! Consider this a house warming party and this is the tour of my new home!

This website is a tribute to my daughter Mariana and to my life. To those small everyday moments that make life happier and everlasting. To those delicious bites that make us smile and we can’t wait to repeat them again.

I wanted to make a website for us, a place to wonder through food. Because we still need to eat, right?! Why not use something we need to do anyway to bring happiness and beauty into our lives? I promise you, it only takes a little tweak or twist here and there to make any dish special, different and super-duper delicious! That is true from the most intricate dessert to even a quick lunch sandwich. I want to give you not only recipes but also ideas that will help you make that. Anytime!

Will love if you can check the new “About me” page. I appropriately updated my bio, because what use to describe who I am has changed immensely during the last year. I also talk a bit about Mariana and our life together as mother and daughter and why she is the ultimate Yellow Butterfly. And I also talk a bit more about how this new blog came to be.

How to browse The Yellow Butterfly

1. The homepage is where everything is going on!

2. At the very top you can catch up with the latest posts. I will also give space to recipes I’ve been noticing are trending lately in the blog or over social media. Because we always want to be up to date with what’s cooking on!

3. You know when you have a particular mood that makes you crave certain foods? I’ll be sharing what my “Cooking Mood” has been. Whether I’m lounging for seasonal recipes or a particular ingredient, I’ll share it with you. Whatever is our thing at the moment!

4. A new section that I’m very excited about is the “Currently Craving”. This is a section where I’ll feature an ingredient that I simply can’t have enough of. The idea is to share some bits of information about that ingredient, like a bit of its origins, flavor profile, handling and shelf life and a thing or two about what the ingredient can do for you. This way you can start incorporating it in more dishes, even if the recipe doesn’t call for it. Or you can use it in unexpected ways, like how to bake sweets with the ingredient featured in my first edition; olive oil.

5. Next you will find the latest “Savory Eats” on the blog. I’ve been wanting to highlight more my savory recipes and finally I gave them the space they deserve. You can check the latest there or check out the full “Savory Eats Category”. They will be turning up quickly!

6. At the bottom of the page is the new “Recipe Index”. I recategorized aaaaall of the recipes based on what you peeps search and visit the most! Now things should be easier to find. Also, at the bottom of every recipe blog post, you’ll see some related recipes, so you can keep discovering new and delicious things to make!

7. Finally, I’ll be launching a new section called “Not Even a Recipe”. I can’t even tell you how excited I’m with this idea that you guessed it, are not even recipes. They will be practical things you will be able to make using just your senses. Isn’t this promising?! There will be things that you will be able to make mostly out of your current pantry and fridge status. Think like when you are telling a friend how to mix a little bit of this with an extra of that and boom, you got scrumptious in front of you, no notebook needed. This section will be exclusive to our community, so you will need to “Join the Flutter” and subscribe to my newsletter to be able to access it. When a new post is up, you will receive an email notification with a password to enter the new area. So join now!

So, to where I’m going from here? You’ll tell me! I want to hear from you in helping me create a space that helps us be mindful when we are cooking, even if that lasts 30 minutes. A place that will inspire us to use food to celebrate our own everyday lives!

I hope you like what you’ll see!
